Summary: The VM Financial Management Analyst is responsible for executing day to day Financial Management vendor governance services.

Background: VMO organizations are becoming strategic in nature and expected to deliver the full potential of outsourced services. As part of the Avasant Vendor Management Services practice Vendor Management as-a-Service (VMaaS) team, VM analysts provide s VM services to clients seeking to optimize the management and governance of their outsourcing suppliers. Key functions of this position include vendor contract management, vendor financial management, vendor performance management, analysis and reporting, and vendor relationship management.

Description: The VM Financial Management Analyst provides to Avasant VMaaS clients vendor financial management and governance services, support for VMaaS Contract Set-Up (On-boarding) Services, and various defined Operational Support Services as defined in the Avasant VMaaS Service Catalog according to the specific requirements for which the client has contracted Avasant VMaaS to satisfy.

Overall Responsibilities: 

  • Perform Invoice Verification and reconciliation including Resource Unit, ARC/RRC, etc. according to specific service provider charging methodology
  • Identify applicable credits and confirm assessment/receipt of credits in invoices
  • Initiate, maintain and report financial demand and consumption data and reporting
  • Support deep dive invoice auditing
  • Support development and maintenance of Service Provider and VMaaS financial dashboards and reports
  • Provide inputs to corporate financial Vendor Management forecasting and contract change requirements
  • Perform, as requested, various Ad hoc analyses: financial modeling; what-if scenarios; pivot tables; forecasting; analysis and trends; benchmarking
  • Perform or assist with VMO financial management responsibilities such as auditing vendor/service provider invoices and tracking invoice payments
  • Ensure currency and accuracy of all contract financial-related data and supporting artifacts
  • Maintain relevant contract financial management data in the governance tool and/or library, as appropriate
  • Participate in various managed contract operational and governance meetings
  • Coordinates with relevant business areas (e.g. Procurement, Legal, IT, etc.) for governance related matters
  • Prepare and deliver financial analyses, dashboards and reports to meet the needs of client
  • Support executive summary reporting
  • Provide input and insight into opportunities for VMaaS process optimization and continuous improvement
  • Risk and Issue reporting

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance
  • +/- 1-3 years' experience - Finance & Accounting, Invoicing, Business/Financial Reporting
  • Strong Excel Skills: Spreadsheets, Pivot Tables, Charting

Skills Requirements: 

  • Financial modeling; what-if scenarios; pivot tables; forecasting;  analysis and trends; benchmarking
  • Excel expertise: Spreadsheets, Pivot Tables, Charting, Graphs, Lookups, Slicers, VBA
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills
  • Data modeling, database queries
  • Able to work remotely and independently in a fast paced environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and client skills, with a demonstrated attention to detail and ability to gain the confidence and respect of the customer
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Collaborative and effective communications with colleagues, clients, and third-party service providers
  • Fluent in English (at least 90% written and spoken)
  • SAP or other financial ERP systems a plus
  • SQL database experience a plus
  • Experienced in business process outsourcing (BPO) or IT outsourcing (ITO) operations a plus
  • Experience in developing statements of work, financials, and service levels for sourcing relationships a plus
